Maybe you’ve run into these roadblocks before. Salesforce's native report viewer caps at 2,000 rows. Native rollup summary fields only work on master-detail relationships. You can’t create custom parent filters. Unfortunately admins usually discover these roadblocks after they’ve spent time building reporting workflows.
Luckily, data aggregation apps can fill Salesforce gaps, but there can be a lot of factors to consider as you're evaluating the options. For example, with the creation of tools on the platform like Flow, customers have tried to simulate roll-up functionality. But Flow can be complicated to use and take a significant investment in time to learn and troubleshoot. It's also inefficient to create flows for rollups as there's a lot of extra work and duplication of efforts.
Although DLRS has been around for a while, and can extend the Salesforce roll-up capability, there are some limitations with this option as well. For example, real-time rollups can NOT be run asynchronously (near real-time) for performance optimization without delays from job scheduling. You also can’t develop queries automatically (no SOQL knowledge required) with over 30 pre-canned date filters or preview roll-up results.
Architecture: Does the app process data natively inside your org, or does it send data to external servers? That distinction matters for security, compliance, and API consumption.
Relationships: Can it handle lookup relationships, hierarchical rollups, and cross-object aggregation? Apps limited to master-detail relationships replicate the same constraint you are trying to solve.
Admin flexibility: Can you create and modify rollups with clicks, or does every change require Apex? The long-term cost of developer-dependent apps can add up faster than a subscription cost.
Real-time vs. scheduled: Does the app calculate in real time as records update or only on a batch schedule?
Volume: How does it perform with large numbers of records? It’s important to know if the app will accommodate the volume of records you need to aggregate.
Customer support: Does the app offer customer support from real people or just a chatbot?
When you choose the right aggregation app, it can extend your reporting without adding a new dependency. With Rollup Helper, you can roll-up any Salesforce data users need on records, list views, or reports. Quickly configure count, average, percent, lookup, text, formula, sum, max, min, hierarchy, multi-currency roll-ups and more.
Every release version of Rollup Helper goes through an automatic Salesforce approved security scan process to ensure that any vulnerabilities are addressed and resolved before publication. And our app has been installed and battle tested in over 50,000 Salesforce customer orgs.
We offer support through email, live chat, and Knowledge Base Articles, as well as through the Trailblazer community. Our support staff are available 5 days a week for 8 hours per day to provide fast turnaround times and communication.
