Benecon is an organization that helps companies create and manage their own custom health plans. Known as the self-funded alternative to traditional health plans, Benecon helps employers find cost-effective solutions while providing quality coverage for employees.

Katie Watts, who is a CRM and Analytics Manager at Benecon, shared that she recently expanded her company’s use of Rollup Helper. “Rollup Helper was actually installed and used in our Salesforce® org when I took over as our admin. I liked working with it, and it worked so well that when I saw ways it would be useful in a new project we were taking on, I asked if we could purchase the full version,” said Katie.

One of Benecon’s use cases for Rollup Helper is rolling up Closed/Won Opportunity data onto their partner accounts, so they can see how their partners are performing. “Since the partner field on the opportunity is only a lookup, this wasn’t possible before,” said Katie.

Leaping Master-detail Relationship Hurdles

Katie shared that their biggest use case for Rollup Helper is a current project that they’re working on. “I’m adding about eight rollups to our current setup that, due to the limitations of the number of master-detail relationships you can have, would have required a lot of flow automation to be built otherwise. It has been a huge time-saver for this project!” explains Katie.

Rollup Helper isn’t restricted to a master-detail relationship between objects, so it makes roll-up summary fields in Salesforce much easier. You can even do rollups between objects with a lookup relationship and hierarchy rollups.

Reducing the Need for Flow Automation & Easily Adding Custom Filters

Katie says that Rollup Helper is easy to use and set up with the new processes. Creating custom filters in Rollup Helper is simple and does not require any knowledge of SOQL. “I love that you can also add the filters. I have a few where the filter is the same across different rollups, and I love that I can reuse them!” added Katie.

“Without this tool we’d have to build a lot of flow automation around various record changes in order to calculate record numbers, currency totals, latest dates, etc. to parent records without a master-detail relationship. Additional processes would be time consuming and make our org more complex to maintain,” she said.

“The results have been great. I have yet to come across a use case where I wasn't able to get it to work!” concluded Katie.
