Sales Rep Reporting Month Part 2: Sales Rep Commission

Problem:

For a Sales Manager, visibility into monthly commissions by Sales Rep is critical.

Solution:

After setting up the Sales Rep Reporting Month use case, Commission can be rolled up from Opportunity to Sales Rep Reporting Month.

  • From Setup > Object Manager
    • Create a Formula Field on Opportunity to calculate the Sales Rep's commission due for that Opportunity. How this is calculated will vary between businesses. 
      • Be sure to set up security on the Field so that Sales Reps can't see each other's commissions
    • Create a custom Currency Field on Sales Rep Reporting Month, called Commissions
      • Again, be sure to set up security on the Field so that Sales Reps can't see each other's commissions
  • Create a rollup from Opportunity to the Sales Rep Reporting Month Object
    • In Rollup Helper, create a new rollup setting
    • Set Target Object to Sales Rep Reporting Month
    • Choose Commission as the Target Field
    • Choose Opportunity as the Child/Source Object
    • The Type of rollup will be Sum, on the Source Field as Commission
    • Create new filter to only rollup commissions on Closed Won Opportunities
      • Filter Criteria Field is Won equals True
      • Save filter
    • Save and run the rollup
