Dear PT,
Managing data and data hygiene in Salesforce® is a constant struggle at our company. Sometimes, incomplete data can be as damaging as bad data. With different people doing the data entry, it can be difficult to make sure the information is complete every time. For example, Opportunities may not have the key roles for the Contacts properly documented. Is there any easy way to identify and fix these data gaps?

Whether your company is located in the European Union, sells to customers who are located in the European Union, or you would like your company to get ahead of the curve with respect to privacy acts as a best practice, Salesforce® has implemented an Individual object to help you keep track of an individual’s data privacy preferences. This can be used for compliance with GDPR or other privacy protection laws such as The California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).

Dear PT,
Our company’s IT department has a steady backlog of new projects and new processes to undertake. And they are good at what they do. However, each individual action plan is built from the ground up. Plus, they operate in a bit of a silo—other functions need to be involved to ensure success. We’d like to add project management discipline to these projects and process implementations. Where do we begin?

Recently, we launched a new app, Data Quality Helper. It gives Admins and users much more functionality than the default Salesforce data quality tools. As mentioned in our recent blog post, data validation rules and warning messages are now more customizable—something the Salesforce Community has wanted for quite some time.
But that’s only half of the story.

Since July 31, 2007, members of the Salesforce Community have been clamoring for a new feature to be added to the platform—”soft” data validation rules and warnings. On that date, a post was added to the IdeaExchange, and since then it has garnered some 25,000 points and more than 2,500 votes. The people have spoken, and they overwhelmingly support this idea.
